Good morning, mossy wanderers and fairy folk!
Today the studio is positively humming with energy. There’s bark to be sorted, moss to be fluffed, and a dozen fairy doors waiting patiently for their sparkle. Between painting mushrooms and picking out the perfect pebble path for a new enchanted wall piece, I thought I’d share a favorite little treat from my childhood, A Magical Scone Recipe — a simple, warm, buttery scone recipe straight from my Nana’s magical kitchen to yours.
Because let’s face it… the Fae aren’t the only ones who love a good baked good. We all love A Magical Scone Recipe
Fairy Scones – A Magical Scone Recipe, The Studio Way

Soft, fluffy, and ready to pair with jam, clotted cream, or a drizzle of honey from a kind forest bee.
INGREDIENTS
- 500g self-raising flour (about 4 cups)
- 4 tsp baking powder (a little extra lift never hurts)
- 100g butter (cold is best!)
- Approximately 350ml milk (1.5 cups)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350°F or 200°C
- Sift your flour and baking powder into a bowl like you’re casting a floury spell.
- Add thin slices or grated bits of butter – cold and whisper-soft.
- Rub the butter into the flour with your fingers until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.
- Gradually pour in the milk and stir with a fork until it begins to come together like forest moss underfoot.
- Tip the dough onto a floured surface and gently pat it into shape – no rolling pin needed here.
- Cut into shapes – rounds, triangles, stars if you’re feeling whimsical.
- Optional: brush the tops with milk or egg for a golden crown.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes until just lightly browned underneath.
- Cool on a wire rack or tuck them under a tea towel to keep them soft and warm like a fresh fairy quilt.
This Magical Scone Recipe makes around 18 scones, depending on your chosen shapes. Freeze any leftovers – if the fairies don’t eat them first.
The kettle’s on, and my kitchen smells like a cozy bakery.
Until next time, may your tea be warm, your moss ever green, and your day sprinkled with just the right amount of wonder.
With flour on my sleeves and magic in my pockets,
I hope you have a wonderful day!
